Trailwalker strides to new success
publication date: Jul 29, 2008
A record 502 teams tackled a 100km course across the South Downs in Trailwalker UK, the flagship fundraising event for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust held 19 - 20 July, and sponsored for the third consecutive year by State Street, the world's leading provider of services to institutional investors. The event is expected to raise a record amount of more than £1 million.
“State Street is a firm supporter of the superb work carried out by Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust in bringing relief to underprivileged communities,” said Dan Wiener (pictured), senior managing director for State Street Global Markets. “We are extremely pleased with the continued growing response from both our staff and customers in supporting such great causes.”
A call for nominees is currently underway for State Street's Most Innovative Fundraising Award which recognises the Trailwalker UK team who demonstrates the most ingenuity in raising money for this year's event. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2008 and State Street will award a cash prize to the winning team and make a donation to the charitable organization of the team's choice.
